Rep. Paul Ryan: “If you want to raise the debt limit a dollar, you’ve got to cut spending a dollar”

The next national debate will be set on whether or not to raise the debt ceiling.

The national debt is set to hit its ceiling within the next week.

Many Republicans are refusing to raise the debt limit unless there are significant cuts to spending. Some want those cuts to be in the trillions.

Wisconsin Representative and Chairman of the House Budget Committee Paul Ryan went on Fox News’ Fox and Friends to explain the GOP position, saying:

“If you want to raise the debt limit a dollar, you’ve got to cut spending a dollar.”

Ryan also talks about Medicare and how his plan actually saves this entitlement program.

“You can’t tax your way out of this problem…

If you want to raise the debt limit a dollar, you’ve got to cut spending a dollar.”
